English: The Jokhang Monastery, a massive building with an open roof and three floors, all filled with spectacular chapels and chambers. Since its creation in the 7th century, the temple has undergone extensive renovations, especially during the 17th century reign of the 5th Dalai Lama . Pilgrims walk around the temple in a clockwise direction many times before entering.
The first lesson I was taught when I arrived here was everything is in a clockwise direction, turning prayer wheels, walking through monasteries, walking through museums and walking around a stupa are all in a clockwise direction.
